Games, Music, and Creative Movements for Young Children


Today I woke up feeling refreshed after knowing the weather isn’t rainy like any other days. I took shower, and prepared my milk. I was utterly panicked over the fact that I lost my boarding pass cause it’s one of the document that I have to collect for my university. But that feeling is gone after I get such a warm welcomed from the thomasians, the students that majoring in primary teaching. We went to Lourdes J. Custudio I.C.D rm (SPED Rm) exactly right at 7.59 am there were not many people attended in the classroom yet, and so I met some people there. They were all smiling to us, and told us to have a seat so we did, we started talking to them and we basically getting to now each other. It’s really nice getting to know new people and experience new things, we were talking about a lot of things, until I don’t realize that our supervisor and the speaker is already in the room. We keep talking until the MC’s told us to stop ehehehe. 






The workshop started with praying together, and the mom introduced the speaker, her name is She was an alumnee from UST, she’s really experienced in teaching kinder and pre elementary children. She is a good singer and even doing theatre. She said that “What’s keeping children be focus and learn technically good are with singing and movement and it scientifically proved!!” She made the workshop real fun She told us how to manage students by learning with songs and movement.

She asked us to participate in the song itself, to make the movement from the song, to be yourself,  to play the games, and We even studied Sign Language,  for the basic one but still it was really exciting and felt amazing to be one of the participant in this Workshop. Thank you Mam Cordura for inviting us in this workshop.

Today Hani and the other friend came to pick us up, so when I walked with Hana I asked her “Are we going to UST first?” Cause our supervisor told us that today we’re going to our assigned school, the Dominican School. Well, that was actually a mistake, my roommate and the thomasian had miscommunication cause we were actually instructed to be picked up at 8.45 am by our supervisor luckily we met them across the street, so we’re coming with them to the Dominican school. The first person we met is the security guard ”the kuya” kuya is how we call older guys in filipino. We met with the sister, and the vice principal we were talking about education in Indonesia, and the education in the Philippines, then we met with our cooperating teacher, but we haven’t got time to talk with our cooperating teacher cause they still have class, the vice principal, Mr. Kenny showed us around the school, we went upstair to the second floor, we went to the teacher’s office and to the library I love how

Last Friday my student Erin said “ You’ll see my big luggage on Monday!” Well just as soon as I arrived in Dominican, Many Kuya came back and forth to get the big luggage to every classes and not for long until I noticed that there’s written name of the kuya that responsible for bringing their luggage on it. I need to wait for Mam Prado because She got stuck in a traffic, She arrived at class immediately and started the class with praying and tell the students to arrange their seats cause their friends is going to practice the Dulaang Kamang in front of the class. Mam Prado showed me the things she brought to school, She said she brings a lot green pens “ What pen color do you use in Indonesia?” “ Is it red?” She added “ We use green pens now, cause I read that the red pens make the student feel down especially when they failed” “We’ll go upstairs Mam Icha” She smiled. “YOU’RE A BLESSING TO US”

Waking up to horn sound of those vehicles and this city vibe is never really my  thing, but start from now I’ll be living here for a month, in Manila the capital city of the Philippines. I am staying with Ria and Kandi and the rest of our friends paired up with the other friends with the same major. We woke up early to make sure that we're not late in our first day. Around 7 the ten of us already well dressed with our alma mater and those two from Thailand wearing their uniform that I’ve only seen in a Thailand movies, the white shirt and the black shirt.
